Applications Due June 16 for 2017-18 MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship

One of the greatest responsibilities of board members is to think strategically about the considerable issues facing hospitals and the needs of their communities. The MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship helps trustees constantly learn by informing them about challenges and trends and teaching them how to be a strategic leader. Graduates of the fellowship, which has been in existence for more than a decade, have high praise for the program, as demonstrated by this graduate’s testimonial. Hospital and health system CEOs who have sent board members to the fellowship have said the fellowship has “given my board members an experience like no other,” and that the fellowship “sets the benchmark for contemporary and practical governance education.”

Participants will meet five times a year, with sessions focusing on financial, strategic and ethical oversight; establishing clear and dependable patient safety and quality monitoring systems; the interdependence of physician, executive and board leadership to improving health and patient experience; and developing capacity to lead and drive change at a pace that keeps the organization relevant.

Applications for the fellowship are due June 16. Now is the time to speak with a member of your board about enrolling. To further explore this offering, contact Erin Steward at the MHA.
