Workplace Safety Explored During Chairman’s Round Table

More than 75 healthcare chief executive and chief medical officers participated in the May 13 virtual Chairman’s Round Table focused on strategies to improve safety culture, prevent injury and reduce costs that are recordable by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Guest speakers at the event included Bill O’Rourke, the former president of Alcoa-Russia, and Jeffrey Boord, MD, MPH, chief quality and safety officer for Parkview Health, Fort Wayne, IN, and co-chair of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Leadership Alliance’s Workforce Safety Workgroup. They outlined the psychological and financial cost of workplace errors and practical ways to build safety into organizations. The Indiana Hospital Association co-hosted the round table.
