Webinar to Explore Future of Acute Care Hospitals

Posted on April 29, 2021

A Moody's Investors Service Healthcare Report noted hospital partnerships, affiliations, mergers and acquisitions will continue in 2021, extending the consolidation trend in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. COVID-19 has taken a toll on smaller hospitals, which want to partner to gain access to clinical and financial resources and reduce supply and information technology expenses. What does this prediction mean for administrators and governing board members contemplating future strategies?

To provide up-to-date information on the healthcare market, MHA Endorsed Business Partner Juniper Advisory is offering a free webinar titled The Future of Acute Care Hospitals. Rex Burgdorfer, Juniper’s managing director, will outline examples of large-scale consolidation designed to optimize clinical services, population health capabilities and operational scale, ways neighboring hospitals are working together to improve efficiency in serving the same communities, and integrated affiliation structures that stop just short of an acquisition or consolidation. In addition, Helen Johnson, FACHE, president of Sparrow Eaton Hospital, will share her perspective on system integration.

The webinar will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 20. Chief executive and financial officers, health plan and network administrators, population health and clinical care services directors, and governing board members are encouraged to attend. The webinar is free to MHA members, but registration is required. Members with questions should contact Erin Steward at the MHA.
