Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Nov. 25:

  • The MHA Monday Report will not be published Dec. 2 due to the Thanksgiving holiday; the next issue will be dated Dec. 9. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
  • The MHA Small or Rural Hospital Council will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at MHA headquarters, Okemos.  An update will be provided on rural healthcare priorities and resources available for MHA members. Additional updates will be given on the newly formed human resources council and the 2020 Michigan Healthcare Human Resources Conference. For more information, contact Bill Jackson at the MHA.
  • The MHA Quality and Accountability Committee will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at MHA headquarters, Okemos. The director of the Bureau of Community and Health Systems within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will provide an update. Data transparency and the MHA VerifyMICare website will also be discussed. For more information, contact Brittany Bogan at the MHA.
  • The MHA Council on Children’s Health meeting originally scheduled for Dec. 6 has been canceled. For more information, contact Brittany Bogan at the MHA.
  • The Michigan State Loan Repayment Program (MSLRP), which assists employers in the recruitment and retention of primary care providers by providing up to $200,000 in tax-free funds to repay educational debt, will accept applications postmarked from Feb. 3-7 only, with Feb. 3 postmarks being considered first. The highly competitive process requires providers and employers to carefully read the MSLRP Application Period Update and the entire MSLRP website to ensure all specifications of the process are met. Significant program changes starting with this application period are included in these materials. If questions remain after reading the MSLRP website, contact Ken Miller at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services at (517) 241-9946.
