A Century of Service
Posted on November 22, 2019
This article from the Grand Hotel is published in appreciation of its generous support of the MHA 100 Year Anniversary.
As the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) celebrates its 100th anniversary, it is a milestone that feels familiar to everyone at the historic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. 2019 was the 133rd year of operation for the hotel, which has been one of America's premier summer vacation spots since it opened in July 1887 (and which was recently named the Best Hotel in Michigan by Condé Nast Traveler).
These two iconic Michigan institutions have more in common than just a long and impressive history. They share an illustrious tradition, and a legacy of service, sustained excellence, and continued innovation and growth. They also share a close professional relationship that spans nearly a century. At a time when any business or association that lasts a decade is considered a survivor, the fact that both have not only endured but thrived for so long is truly remarkable.
The relationship between these two Michigan institutions is as strong today as it ever has been. MHA continues to hold its annual meeting at Grand Hotel, an event which has become a favorite for members. Nearly 600 MHA professionals and family members convene at the hotel every June. Attendees enjoy a variety of activities that includes cocktail parties, children’s carnival and programs, and a grand banquet with the passing of the baton to the new Board Chair.
It seems appropriate that MHA, the leading voice of healthcare in Michigan, and Grand Hotel, Michigan’s favorite hotel destination for over a century, continue to strengthen their historic relationship in new and exciting ways.
Grand Hotel congratulates MHA on its 100th anniversary and looks forward to the next century of service and shared prosperity — a time sure to be filled with big ideas and new possibilities.
