MHA Excellence in Governance Fellows Graduate

Members of the 2018-2019 class of the MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship completed their work and participated in a graduation ceremony during the recent MHA Annual Membership Meeting. Eight fellows graduated from the nine-month program that focuses on enhancing board member knowledge, skills and value.
With the graduation of this class, there are more than 175 alumni fellows in Michigan hospitals working to move their boards from simply effective to exceptional. The 2018-2019 graduates, pictured above, include (left to right) Peter Flintoft, St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea; Kimberly Brzozowski, Sparrow Clinton Hospital, Saint Johns; Peter Hood, Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, Manistique; Jean Nagelkerk, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s, Grand Rapids; Patrick Conlon Jr., St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea; Linda Theil, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s, Grand Rapids; Ronald Stewart, DDS, Hurley Medical Center, Flint; and Joel Conn, Sparrow Clinton Hospital, Saint Johns. In other governance news, the latest edition of Trustee Insights, a digital package of information for healthcare trustees from the American Hospital Association (AHA), is now available. The July edition includes articles related to improving committee effectiveness, integrating behavioral and physical health, strengthening culture and recruiting millennials to the board.
