MHA Safety & Quality Symposium Highlights Workplace Safety Improvement Strategies

Symposium logoThe MHA Safety & Quality Symposium, which will be held Sept. 26 at the Detroit Marriott Troy, will outline how to adopt strategies that improve psychological safety, help caregivers cope with medical errors and prepare for violent incidents through focused through focused communication and safety protocols.

Keynote speaker Amy C. Edmondson, Novartis professor of leadership and management at the Harvard Business School, Boston, will explain why engagement and candor are required to succeed in today’s knowledge economy. Eric Alberts, corporate manager, emergency preparedness, at Orlando (FL) Health, will share how his team prepared for and triaged the mass casualties resulting from the Pulse nightclub tragedy. And Patrice Weiss, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer of Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, VA, will outline strategies the clinic's team has implemented to effectively help caregivers cope with medical errors.

A total of 4.75 nursing contact hours have been awarded for this activity by the Michigan Public Health Institute – Continuing Education Solutions (MPHI-CES 6277). Additionally, this event is eligible for up to a total 4.75 educational hours for CME Cat II.

The symposium is designed for clinical teams across the continuum of care, quality and safety professionals, healthcare executives and business leaders, and patient and family advocates.
