Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of May 6:

  • The MHA Keystone Center Board of Directors will meet from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at MHA headquarters, Okemos. For more information, contact Brittany Bogan at the MHA.
     
  • The MHA Health Foundation webinar CMS Hospital Restraint and Seclusion: Navigating the Most Problematic Standards and Proposed Changes will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. The webinar will review documentation that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires for violent or self-destructive patients and more.   • The MHA Quality and Accountability Committee will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at MHA headquarters, Okemos. The committee will hear a report on 2019 updates from The Joint Commission. In addition, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will provide an update on the most recent changes to the HIV laws in the state of Michigan, as well as updates on current resources, programs and statistics on asthma and stroke for the state of Michigan.   • The Michigan Health Policy Forum will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. May 20 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, East Lansing. The event will focus on “New People and New Policies,” and Robert Gordon, director, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), will deliver the keynote address. A panel discussion on Michigan’s health priorities will include representatives of the MDHHS, the chair of the House Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee, and the chair of the Senate Health Policy and Human Services Committee.
