Enrollment for 2019-2020 Excellence in Governance Fellowship Now Open

Posted on April 18, 2019

The MHA is currently accepting applications for enrollment in the 2019-2020 Excellence in Governance Fellowship, an innovative program designed to provide hospital and health system board members with the expertise and competencies needed to effectively govern an increasingly complex healthcare system.

For more than 15 years, the MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship has helped trustees become strategic leaders by focusing on the challenges and trends related to hospital governance. Sessions focus on the following four strategic pillars:

  • Principles of effective governance.
  • Improving quality and patient safety.
  • Building collaborative medical staff partnerships.
  • Leadership growth to build strong relationships with the community and stakeholders.

Fellows meet in person for one day each quarter of the year at the MHA headquarters in Okemos and virtually in the months when fellows are not meeting in person. This new format is designed to give board members a greater opportunity to incorporate this valuable professional development into their busy schedules.

Excellence in Governance FellowshipHospital and health system CEOs who have sent board members to the Excellence in Governance Fellowship have high praise for the program, as demonstrated by the testimonials featured on the program webpage. To further explore this one-of-a-kind offering, contact Erin Steward at the MHA.
