Hospital Informative Session Offered on New State Licensing and Regulation Platform

Posted on October 18, 2018

The Bureau of Professional Licensing, housed in the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), is transitioning to a new licensing and regulation platform called the Michigan Professional Licensing User System (MiPLUS) in May 2019 for all license holders except nurses. Licensed nurses transitioned to MiPLUS in August 2017.

The online portal replaces an outdated, inefficient system, eliminating the time-consuming process of sending documents via the postal system. Applicants will be able to apply online, track the status of their license and receive electronic notifications. MiPlus also improves consumer protections by making the complaint process more transparent and enhancing the services to submit and track complaints.

To help hospitals learn the new system, the bureau is hosting an informational session from 3 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8. The session will explain the process for licensing “educational-limited” applicants and describe ways hospitals can prepare for the transition before the portal goes live in May. Members can register to attend in-person in Conference Room #4 of the Ottawa Building in Lansing or via conference call. Members with questions regarding the event content should contact Cynthia Rowe at LARA at (517) 335-1696. For registration assistance, contact Stephanie Yager at the MHA.
