Award Recognizes Individuals, Teams for Voicing Safety Concerns

Posted on December 08, 2017

Speak-up! Award logoA vast majority of serious safety events occur due to miscommunication among healthcare staff. Speaking up about safety issues and voicing concern in the midst of potential patient or staff harm can play a vital role in the improvement of safety and quality in healthcare.

Healthcare staff working at MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization (PSO) member organizations can, on a quarterly basis, nominate individuals or teams who choose to speak up and intervene to prevent patient or staff harm.

The MHA Keystone Center celebrates the courage and integrity it takes to voice concerns among colleagues with the MHA Keystone Center Speak-up! Award. The award was launched in 2016 by the MHA and the MHA Keystone Center PSO as part of a statewide initiative to achieve high reliability in healthcare.Featured in Monday Report.
