The MHA Health Foundation webinar series Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 2019 Conditions of Participation for Hospitals will review in detail newly finalized rules and how to make quick, effective changes to compliance plans.
Part 1 — Patient Rights
Patients’ rights include privacy, safety, confidentiality of records, the grievance process, advance directives, participation in the plan of care, and use of restraints or seclusion. Suggestions will be given for effective practices surrounding:
- Restraint and seclusion standards compliance for anyone who directly cares for or transports patients, manages staff, or rewrites hospital policies and medical staff bylaws.
- Staff training for those who work with patients who file nondiscrimination grievances related to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or ability to pay.
- Documenting free interpreter services for patients.
