To inform healthcare board members about ways providers and the MHA are collaborating, embracing transparency, and meeting patients and communities where they are in their health journey, the MHA will conduct a trustee orientation from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the MHA headquarters in Okemos.
The orientation will begin with a briefing on the MHA's strategic priorities, advocacy and patient safety efforts. New hospital and health system CEOs are invited to join trustees for the MHA briefing. For those who attend only the MHA briefing, the session with adjourn at 10:30 a.m.
The remainder of the day will consist of a trustee educational session on the board’s role in workforce design and development. With the convergence of an aging population, the chronic disease burden and workforce shortages, board members must work in partnership with management to ensure the workforce is prepared to serve the community’s needs. Attendees will review the challenges and explore strategic questions.
Trustees can register separately for either the MHA briefing or the governance educational session, or register to attend both. There is no fee to attend the MHA briefing; a $75 fee is required to attend the governance session, which will include lunch.
