In 2017, the Joint Commission placed added emphasis on ligature, suicide and self-harm observation processes in psychiatric hospitals and inpatient psychiatric patient areas in general hospitals. The Joint Commission reports suicide as one of the top five sentinel events in their database, and research shows that there are steps healthcare organizations can take to mitigate the environmental risks associated with suicide or other self-harm, especially regarding ligature.
This webinar will feature a presentation by Maureen D’Agostino, principal, MDB Consulting, LLC, and will address current ligature standards in healthcare, implications of the Joint Commission’s updated survey evaluation criteria and what healthcare facilities can do to maintain compliance and mitigate associated risks.
