Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey continues to circulate throughout southeast Texas since making landfall Aug. 25, and hospital personnel in the area have stepped up to the extremely challenging conditions. Many have been at their posts, treating the ill and injured, while their own homes and property were damaged or destroyed.
The Texas Hospital Association (THA) has established the THA Hospital Employee Assistance Fund to provide financial assistance to those who experienced significant property loss during the storm or the ensuing floods and are employees of hospitals located in one of the 18 Federal Emergency Management Agency-designated disaster areas. The THA webpage provides information on various methods to donate to the fund, which will be distributed to full- and part-time hospital employees based on specific eligibility criteria. Donations are tax-deductible.
MHA staff will collectively assist their Texas colleagues by making a donation to wear blue jeans to the office on an upcoming Friday. The money contributed through the effort will be sent to the THA Hospital Employee Assistance Fund.
For more information on the fund, contact the THA Service Center at (512) 467-1056.
