Trustee Advocacy Day

Wednesday, May 17 | MHA Capitol Advocacy Center

The MHA hosts events throughout the year to discuss trends that will impact hospitals and health systems and tackle the challenges that are affecting providers’ ability to provide vital services to their communities. The forums are for member organizations only and are offered free of charge.

An upcoming member event is the 2017 Trustee Advocacy Day, an opportunity designed for members of governing boards of healthcare organizations to connect with MHA Advocacy staff and legislators from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the MHA Capitol Advocacy Center.

Questions are abundant as healthcare providers face the potential of changing the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid restructuring and other changes. As healthcare continues to transform, the future will be filled with opportunities and challenges – and forward-thinking leadership is necessary to navigate this environment.

Hospital and health system governing board members’ ability to express key messages with Michigan’s elected officials and congressional delegation is key to representing their communities’ commitment to affordable, accessible, high-quality healthcare.

This event will give governing board members an opportunity to better understand the issues surrounding this changing environment and strengthen their advocacy capacity.

What to Expect

The first part of the advocacy day will be spent at the Capitol attending healthcare legislative committee meetings. The last part of the day includes a briefing on the status of the Affordable Care Act, budget reconciliation, and an overview of the deliberations and key messages for the 2018 state of Michigan budget. Individual meetings with the MHA Advocacy staff and your legislator can be arranged after lunch, which will be provided.

Those unable to attend in person can watch the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid presentation via webinar, which will be held from approximately 11 to 11:45 a.m. Register using the form below.
