Vice President/Attorney, Unemployment
Neil MacVicar is an attorney and serves as vice president of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association’s (MHA) Unemployment Compensation Program. The MHA Unemployment Compensation Program currently represents more than 300 employers throughout Michigan and in several other states in all aspects of unemployment compensation claims and unemployment issues.
MacVicar has represented and consulted employers in unemployment compensation law matters for more than 26 years. His work includes consultation with individual employers, representation at unemployment hearings, and appellate representation up to the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court.
MacVicar is the MHA contact for the “Hospital Blue” program. In conjunction with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, this program provides thirdparty services for administering claims for self-insured health plans.
He is also a member of the Michigan Department of Community Health’s Newborn Screening Advisory Work Group and the Michigan BioTrust Community Values Advisory Board. These two groups oversee Michigan’s newborn screening process that occurs with every birth in the state.
MacVicar received his undergraduate degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH, and his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing. He currently resides in Holt.
